Yuliia Biriukova and Laura Lizette Sander showcased their talent against the clock in today’s national time trial championships, each claiming victory in their respective countries of Ukraine and Estonia.

In Ukraine, Yuliia Biriukova triumphed on home soil in Lviv, securing her first senior national champion jersey. She completed the 29.3km course with a steady pace, riding the Factor HANZŌ and sporting the Smith Jetstream helmet. Reflecting on her performance, Biriukova said, “I am so happy to win my first title. In the time trial, there was the selection for Paris 2024, so I am very glad I managed to prove my quality.”

Biriukova’s win was particularly special, given the championships were hosted in her hometown. She added, “I tried to race at an even pace. This result gives me great confidence for the road race, and I hope I can win another jersey.” The 26-year-old will look to continue her success in the road race on the 22nd June, also held in Lviv.

Meanwhile, in Estonia, Laura Lizette Sander dominated the Estonian Time Trial Championship in Varbusa. Covering the 19.4km course with an impressive average speed of 44.37km/h, Sander finished over a minute ahead of Elisabeth Ebras, with Coop-Repsol’s Aidi Gerde Tuisk rounding out the podium.

Laura Lizette Sander, who rides for the U23 team of AG Insurance – Soudal, has consistently excelled in the national championships since 2021, winning gold in both time trials and road races. Her victory today marks her fourth consecutive gold medal in the Estonian Championships coming through from the junior ranks. Looking ahead to the road race on the 22nd June, Sander aims to defend her title and extend her winning streak.
