Amanda Spratt out of 2025 Tour de France Femmes before stage 1 due to illness

Amanda Spratt will not start the 2025 Tour de France Femmes after falling ill overnight, cutting short her campaign before it had even begun. The Lidl-Trek rider was already en route home on Saturday morning, missing what would have been her fourth appearance at the race.

โ€œNot the news I wanted to share but unfortunately Iโ€™m back at the airport flying home from TdFF before it even started,โ€ she wrote on Instagram. โ€œI became sick overnight and we decided itโ€™s just not a good idea to stay and risk impacting the health and performance of my Lidl-Trek team for a race everyone has worked so hard for. I know they are ready and will be great. This is a tough one to accept.โ€

Spratt has had a solid 2025 season so far, including a strong 4th place overall at Vuelta a Burgos, 6th at Itzulia Women and 7th at the Tour Down Under. Most recently, she finished 19th in the Giro dโ€™Italia Women earlier this month.

She was expected to support Lidl-Trek leaders like Niamh Fisher-Black and Shirin van Anrooij, particularly in the Alpine stages, while also providing valuable experience across the week. Her absence leaves the team with six riders, as no substitutions are permitted after the start list is confirmed.

Sprattโ€™s history with the Tour de France Femmes has been mixed. She finished 10th overall in 2023, but did not complete the race in 2022 or 2024, and now 2025 ends before the neutral zone.
