Alessia Vigilia wins 2026 Giro dell’Emilia Donne with long-range San Luca attack

Alessia Vigilia won the 2026 Giro dell’Emilia Donne with a long-range solo attack, leaving the day’s breakaway around 30km from the finish and holding on across the final two ascents of San Luca.

The Uno-X Mobility rider carried a lead of 2:18 over the chasing group across the top of the first San Luca climb and still had more than a minute in hand at the foot of the final ascent. Vigilia then completed the last climb alone to take the biggest victory of her career in Bologna.

Sarah Van Dam finished second for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, arriving only a few seconds behind after a late chase on San Luca, while Lauren Dickson took third for FDJ United-SUEZ.

The result rewarded Vigilia for committing before the finale rather than waiting for the double ascent of San Luca. Once she reached the first climb with more than two minutes in hand, the race behind became a chase for both the victory and the remaining podium places, but her advantage proved large enough.
