Brodie Chapman has announced that she is pregnant, sharing the news publicly on Instagram on 7 October.

The Australian rider did not use the announcement to set out a timetable for racing or a future return, and any decisions around competition beyond 2026 remain for Chapman and her team to make in their own time.

Chapman shares pregnancy news after second UAE Team ADQ season

Chapman is completing the second year of the two-year UAE Team ADQ contract she signed ahead of the 2025 season. The move reunited her with Elisa Longo Borghini and gave Chapman a role combining support work with her own opportunities in time trials and selective races.

Her career has included the 2023 Australian road title, the 2025 Australian time-trial championship and two mixed relay team time-trial world titles with Australia. Chapman has also become one of the peloton’s most dependable support riders while retaining the ability to race for her own results.

At the end of 2025, Chapman spoke about feeling renewed motivation for racing and said she could see herself continuing beyond the end of her current deal if that enjoyment remained. Her pregnancy announcement does not set out any change to those plans.

Wiel and Chapman announce pregnancies on the same day

Chapman’s announcement came only minutes after FDJ United-SUEZ rider Jade Wiel also announced her pregnancy on Instagram, an unusual coincidence with two established Women’s WorldTour riders sharing similar personal news almost simultaneously.

As with Wiel, there is no reason to read beyond what Chapman has chosen to announce publicly. Any future racing plans, training schedule or return date will depend on the rider and her circumstances rather than assumptions made at the time of the announcement.
