Giada Silo joins Mayenne Monbana My Pie for 2027

Giada Silo will join Mayenne Monbana My Pie for the 2027 season, moving from UAE Development Team after a strong first year in the elite ranks.

The 19-year-old Italian has been one of the more consistent young riders in the second half of 2026, finishing ninth in the European under-23 road race and eighth at Tre Valli Varesine Women in October. Mayenne confirmed her signing as the French ProTeam continues to build a young 2027 roster.

Silo’s move also gives her a clear next step after UAE confirmed that its standalone development team will not continue in its current form next season. She leaves having used the programme to make the jump from junior racing into a full international elite calendar.

Silo finishes 2026 with her best elite results

The strongest part of Silo’s season came late. She finished ninth in the under-23 road race at the European Championships, staying in contention in a race eventually won by Mara Winter. ProCyclingUK covered the European U23 race and Silo’s place in the leading group.

Four days later she stepped up again at Tre Valli Varesine Women, taking eighth against a field packed with WorldTour riders. Eleonora Gasparrini won the race after a fast closing phase, while Silo’s top-10 gave her one of the best elite results of her first professional season. The ProCyclingUK race report covered that finish.

Those October results followed a solid spring and summer. Silo was 10th at the Gran Premio della Liberazione Donne, 15th at the Navarra Women’s Elite Classic and 15th in the Italian elite road race. She also placed 17th at both the Tout Commence en Finistère Ladies Classic and Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic in September.

The pattern is useful for Mayenne. Silo has not relied on one type of course for her results, with strong rides coming on hilly one-day routes and in races where positioning and endurance were both important.

From junior Italian champion to the elite peloton

Silo arrived at UAE Development Team with a strong junior record. She won the Italian junior road title in 2024 during a season in which she collected six victories, then finished fifth in the junior road race at the 2025 World Championships in Rwanda.

That made 2026 her first full season at elite level. The transition brought a much harder programme, including Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, the Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées and a series of one-day races in France, Spain, Belgium and Italy.

She also had opportunities to race alongside riders from the UAE WorldTour set-up in selected events. Those starts helped expose her to stronger fields early in the year, while the development team provided more freedom for her to chase results later in the season.

UAE originally signed Silo on a one-year development contract for 2026. With the organisation now restructuring its pathway for next season, several riders from that squad have needed to find new teams. ProCyclingUK reported the decision to end the standalone UAE Team L’IMAD development structure for 2027.

Mayenne continue adding young riders for 2027

Mayenne Monbana My Pie have been active in the transfer market as they shape the next version of their ProTeam roster. Silo joins a group of younger signings that already includes Swedish champion Clara Lundmark and French para-cycling star Heïdi Gaugain, while the team has also retained several existing riders.

The French squad has shown a willingness to give developing riders meaningful race opportunities rather than keeping them solely in support roles. That should suit Silo, who needs regular starts at ProTeam and WorldTour level to turn the promise of her first elite season into more consistent results.

At 19, there is no need to define her role too narrowly. Her junior record showed she could win one-day races, while her 2026 results suggest she can cope with selective terrain and harder international fields. The next step is to find where those strengths translate best over a full professional season.

For Mayenne, the signing adds another rider with room to improve but enough recent results to contribute immediately. For Silo, the move keeps her development moving forward after UAE’s structural changes and gives her a place in a ProTeam that already has a substantial French and international calendar.
