Anna van der Breggen finished third today in the Nafarroa Klasiko, the first race since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. In the final of the race the strongest 6 riders stayed ahead amongst Anna van der Breggen, Annemiek van Vleuten, Mavi Garcia, Longo Borghini en Erica Magnaldi. On the final climb Anna van der Breggen attacked but didnt get enough room to stay ahead. “On the counterattack by Van Vleuten we didn’t have a respons. On the finish line a well deserved and good third place was ours and above all I am very pleased to be able to race again after such a long period of uncertainty, according to DS Danny Stam.”
Anna van de Breggen: We saw a great race today. The pace on the long third and fourth climb of the day was though. We started the final climb with a minute behind the leader of the race, we managed to close the gap fast. I tried to break out of the group of chasers. On the top I was countered by Annemiek van Vleuten. I am very happy with how the race went and ofcourse with this third place.”
