Career overview
Markus became Dutch road race champion in 2022 before winning consecutive national time-trial titles in 2023 and 2024. She also won Clasica Femenina Navarra in 2023 and Veenendaal-Veenendaal in 2024, while developing into a major stage-race contender with second overall at the 2024 Vuelta Femenina and Volta Ciclista a Catalunya Femenina. After moving from Visma | Lease a Bike to Lidl-Trek in 2025, Markus finished fifth in the World Championship road race. She remained among the leading all-rounders in 2026, placing eighth at Amstel Gold Race and fourth overall at Itzulia Women. At the Tour de France Femmes she finished ninth in the Dijon time-trial and eighth on stage six, while repeatedly racing aggressively from breakaways.
