Grace Brown of FDJ-SUEZ secured a triumphant overall victory in the Bretagne Ladies Tour, clinching a solo win on the final stage, just ahead of the chasing peloton. Thalita De Jong from Lotto Dstny won the bunch sprint for second place on the stage, finishing ahead of Fien Van Eynde of Fenix-Deceuninck.
Today saw the third and final stage took place between Hénon and Plouaret, where Brown once again showcased her dominance. She broke away from the peloton 10 kilometres from the finish, surprising her competitors.
Unstoppable, she completed the 135.6-kilometre course solo, with a total elevation of 1800 metres. With her arms raised in celebration as she crossed the finish line, Brown marked a standout performance. Reflecting on her victory, Brown said, “It wasn’t the easiest finish. But I really wanted to win a stage wearing the leader’s jersey. It’s fantastic to end the tour like this.”
The Australian presence was strongly felt throughout the tour, with three stage wins credited to riders from Australia: Brown’s victories in the time trial and final stage, and Sarah Roy’s sprint win on the second stage.
However, it was the FDJ-SUEZ team’s overall dominance that was most striking over the three days of racing through Morbihan, Finistère, and Côtes-d’Armor. The team secured the top four spots in the final general classification: Brown, Vigilia, Kraak, and Le Net. This hierarchy was established from the first stage, with only minor adjustments over the course of the competition.
Marie Le Net, the highest-ranked Breton rider, remarked on the team’s performance, saying, “We showed great cohesion and teamwork. We can be proud of ourselves.” Le Net finished just off the podium in the general classification but displayed a promising level of form ahead of the Paris Olympics this summer.
The FDJ-SUEZ team dominated the overall standings, occupying the top four spots. Alessia Vigilia finished second overall, one minute behind Brown, with Amber Kraak in third and Marie Le Net in fourth. De Jong was the next-best rider in fifth place.
