Israeli national road championships

Saturday 21st November will be the final road race of the season for Omer Shapira and Rotem Gafinovitz when they line up for the Israeli road national championships.

The national road race will mark the end of their 2020 season and both are looking forward to the battle for the jersey.

Rotem says: โ€œIโ€™m looking for a fun day of racing tomorrow. Itโ€™s always special to race on home soil and Iโ€™ll enjoy it. Racing in November is a little strange, but at the same time I really like this time of year at home in Israel and it makes me happy to race.โ€

Defending road champion, Omer recently added the 2020 ITT and XCM national titles to her palmares, but says the road race is something more special.

โ€œIโ€™m a road cyclist and for me the road championship is the โ€˜real thingโ€™. The battle for the national jersey is always a little emotional. I want to prove that I can win it again, although I have to admit the course isnโ€™t ideal for my strengths. Iโ€™m feeling good and excited to race.โ€

After the road race, both Rotem and Omer will take an end of season break. Good luck ladies!
