Liv Racing Xstra finishes strong in Women`s Tour

With a fourth place of Tereza Neumanova and a 13th place of Quinty Ton in the overall classification the purple team finished off a good week of racing in the Women`s Tour.

The sixth and final stage of the Women`s Tour brought the peloton to Oxford. In the hilly opening part of the race several riders attacked. Thalita de Jong tried to get in the breakaway once again, but the peloton didn`t let anybody go. Eventually Quinty Ton ended up in the lead group, but despite all the teams being in the front the margin with the peloton never got big and all came back together again.

Another group of three riders was allowed to be in the front for some time, but the bunch brought them back in the final kilometres. In a sprint Lorena Wiebes was the fastest again. Tereza Neumanova was well positioned again by her Liv Racing Xstra team mates and ended up fourth. “This is one of my best results and I am really happy with my performance. We did a really good stage. After Quinty was caught the girls helped me to position well for the sprint. We can be really proud on the way we raced during this Women`s Tour. Sometimes we missed some luck, but we never lost focus and gave it all”, our Czech champion told after the stage.

The overall classification was decided in the final sprint as well. Longo Borghini finished third and took some bonification seconds to grab the overall win. Quinty Ton finished in the bunch and secured her 13th position in the overall. “The goal was to be in the breakaway today. Thalita was very active in the beginning, but didn`t get away. Then I ended up in a good group, but due to the lack of co-operation we couldn`t get a nice margin. At the intermediate sprint I tried to take a bonificiation second, but that didn`t happen. Eventually Tereza finished fourth in the final stage and I took the 13th place in the overall. I think we can really be satisfied with this on this World Tour level.”
