Movistar, BORA, and Intermarché Set to Compete in the 75th Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana

Next year’s cycling calendar is beginning to take shape with the announcement that the 75th edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is scheduled from 31 January to 4 February 2024. The contest is set to open the European stage race calendar, and anticipation is already building among teams and fans alike.

Among the first to confirm their participation are the Movistar Team, BORA-Hansgrohe, and Intermarché Wanty, all of which have signalled their intent to the organisers to vie for victory in this prestigious Pro Series category race.

A Jubilee in the World of Cycling

2024 marks a significant milestone for the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana as it celebrates its 75th edition. Despite the inaugural race taking place in 1929, interruptions due to war and economic challenges mean it is only now the race will honour its 75th anniversary.

Valencia has been a battleground for many cycling legends such as Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, Angelino Soler, Abraham Olano, Alejandro Valverde, and Tadej Pogacar. Rui Costa, who was recently confirmed as a rider for EF Education – Easy Post, claimed the last edition after a nail-biting finish in front of Valencia’s Oceanogràfic in February.

As the event continues to grow year on year, there’s a focused ambition to elevate it to World Tour status. Organisers also aspire to feature at least two stages in each of the provinces within the Comunitat Valenciana, a testament to the race’s enduring appeal and the region’s rich cycling heritage.
