Canyon SRAM Generation sign Agata Campana and Leni Burger for 2027

Canyon SRAM Generation have signed Italian track world champion Agata Campana and German all-rounder Leni Burger for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. Both are 18 and will make the step from junior racing into the U23 and elite ranks on two-year contracts, giving the Continental squad two very different prospects to develop.

Campana joins with a record built around explosive finishing speed, on both the road and the track. Burger arrives from a mountain biking background, with her strongest road performances coming when races become selective. It is a deliberate contrast for a squad balancing individual development with opportunities to race for results.

Campana brings world titles and sprint speed

Based in Trento, Campana has raced for Bft Burzoni-VO2 Team Pink over the past two seasons, recording nine wins and nine further podium finishes across 2025 and 2026. Her domestic results have been supported by performances abroad, including a stage victory and another podium at the junior Nations Cup event Omloop van Borsele in the Netherlands.

Her record on the track is more striking still. At the 2026 European Junior Track Championships, she won the scratch and elimination races and took silver in the madison. She then claimed two rainbow jerseys at the Junior World Championships, winning the elimination race and madison, as well as silver in the scratch. Those medals followed junior European and world titles in the team sprint in 2025.

That range matters. Campana has won across disciplines requiring sustained speed, positioning and a sharp finish, but the step into elite road racing will test how consistently she can use those qualities against more experienced riders.

“My biggest goal over the next five years is to become competitive with the best sprinters in the world and be able to fight for victories against them,” Campana said. “I know there is still a lot to learn and improve, but I want to keep working hard step by step, to reach that level.”

Burger brings an appetite for difficult courses

Burger’s route into road cycling has been less conventional. A two-time silver medallist at the German junior mountain bike championships, she has carried her technical ability and willingness to attack into road racing.

At the 2026 European Junior Road Championships in Slovenia, Burger made a decisive move on a descent after her German teammates had lifted the pace on the preceding climb. Three riders bridged across, and the move stayed clear of the main favourites. Burger finished fourth, narrowly missing a medal but underlining her ability to shape a race rather than simply follow it.

She also finished fifth at a junior Nations Cup race in Spain on a rolling course featuring gravel, and placed inside the top 15 at the Junior Road World Championships in Montréal. Those results suggest a rider comfortable with changing terrain, although she is not yet ready to define herself as a climber or classics specialist.

“At the moment, I enjoy hard, hilly and mountainous races the most, but I’m still figuring out what type of rider I am,” Burger said. “I’d love to develop further in this direction, especially because I really enjoy watching the Grand Tours and the hilly one-day races on TV.”

Two new options for the Generation squad

Canyon SRAM Generation manager and sports director Gosia Jasinska sees Campana strengthening a sprint group that already includes Erja Bianchi, while Burger could provide the aggression needed to make opportunities on harder routes.

“I think Agata will be a very good addition to our sprinting side,” Jasinska said. “I think we can build a good train where Agata will have chances to use her great sprint, but she can also learn how to race for the others.”

On Burger, Jasinska was equally clear: “Leni showed in the European Championships how much of a fighter she is, and what I like most of all is that she’s not afraid to attack and fight until the very end.”

Both signings fit the aims of the Canyon SRAM Generation development programme, which has sought to give young riders a structured route into professional racing since 2022. The pathway has already helped riders progress towards the top tier, most recently Emily Dixon’s move to the WorldTour squad for 2027.

Jasinska expects the newcomers to earn their opportunities within the team first. For Campana, that is likely to mean sharing sprint duties. For Burger, harder races and possible breakaways should provide an early measure of how her attacking instincts translate to elite competition.
