Race Preview: La Course by le Tour de France

It’s time for the next WorldTour race on the women’s peloton calendar, La Course by le Tour de France. It is the eighth edition of this competition.

For this one-day race, which is always organized around a stage of the Tour de France by Tour organizer ASO, the peloton travels to Brest in the west of France. The course is 107.4 kilometers long and the final consists of three local rounds of 14 kilometers. The finish line is located at the top of the Côte de la Fosse aux Loups (3 km at 5.7% with stretches up to 14%) and the total number of altitude meters is 1800.

Our line-up consists of: Anna van der Breggen, Chantal van den Broek-Blaak, Roxane Fournier, Niamh Fisher-Black, Nikola Noskova and Demi Vollering.

Van der Breggen won La Course in 2015 on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. But we see more Team SD Worx riders on the honors list. Van der Breggen was second in 2018 and Vollering was third last year behind Lizzy Armistead (Trek-Segafredo) and Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv).

It is a ‘home race’ for Roxane Fournier, who also lives in Brittany. She is very much looking forward to this race.

“I’m really happy to race so close to my home, with some friends and family along the road. It’s a very challenging race for me because of all the climbs. I did a recon last week, and I must admit that it’s a little bit out of my comfort zone. But I’m really motivated to do my best and help my teammates to get the win. With both Anna and Demi we have a good chance.
I’m recovered after my crash in Diamond Tour and pretty focused for Saturday. “
