Another podium for Silvia Persico who, four days after her success at the Liberation Grand Prix in Rome, confirms her excellent form by closing in third place in the opening prologue of the Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs.

The athlete from Bergamo covered 2200 meters in 3 ‘and 13 “, at an average of 41.036 km / h, being preceded only by Anna Henderson and Demi Vollering. And now she dreams big also for the continuation of the Luxembourg race.

“I knew that the prologue route suited me since there were so many curves,” explains Silvia Persico. “However, I didn’t expect to finish in third place: on the eve, the sensations were not super”.

The podium, however, confirms the team’s plans.

“We came here to get the most out of it. Stages and general classification, make no difference. As for me, I will try to rank, but I would like to savour the taste of success as it happened in Rome. Maybe the last stage of Garnich is the one that suits me best: already last year I closed in fourth place “.

As a demonstration of the good moment of the Valcar – Travel & Service athletes comes the seventh place of Chiara Consonni, who stopped the hands on the time of 3 ‘and 16 “.

«I am satisfied with the result. It is not that frequent to compete in a 2200-metre prologue and, in some ways, it reminded me of the effort of a team pursuit on the track, “explains Chiara. «Also in the next two stages we will try to assert ourselves: they will be two hamlets in the valley, with 1500 meters of difference in height. Tomorrow a small group could arrive and I hope to be there too ».

Good chronometric results also for the other athletes of the team: Karolina Kumiega finished 21st, with Eleonora Gasparrini 25th, Olivia Baril 28th and Ilaria Sanguineti (50th): obviously, considering the mileage of the prologue, all the athletes are enclosed in a matter of seconds.
