Simona Frapporti (Retired)

Simona Frapporti is a retired Italian cyclist who competed successfully on both the road and track. A strong all-rounder with particular endurance strength, she won stages of the Tour Down Under and La Route de France while also becoming European champion and a World Championship medallist in the team pursuit.

Career overview

Frapporti raced professionally from 2008 until 2021 and combined a long road career with international success on the track. She won a stage of La Route de France in 2012, finished ninth at La Course by Le Tour de France in 2014 and placed sixth overall at the 2015 Women’s Tour. Her final road victory came on stage four of the 2020 Women’s Tour Down Under. On the track, Frapporti became European team pursuit champion with Italy in 2016, competed at the Rio Olympics that year and won team pursuit bronze at the 2018 World Championships. She also collected numerous Italian track titles across several disciplines before announcing her retirement in February 2021.
