Stultiens: “Hope to be stronger after the successful Dutch championship”

Liv Racing is in France for one of the most exciting races of the season. The team will start in La Course in Brest this Saturday. The selection consists of the following six riders: Sofia Bertizzolo, Valerie Demey, Jeanne Korevaar, Soraya Paladin, Pauliena Rooijakkers and Sabrina Stultiens.

La Course (part of the UCI Women’s WorldTour) will start early (8.30 am) in Brest on Saturday. After a start with a fourth category climb (Côte de Trébéolin), a local lap awaits. It includes a three-kilometre climb of the third category (Côte de la Fosse aux Loups) that will be covered four times. The race (108 kilometres) is good for 1,800 metres elevation gain.

Sabrina Stultiens is looking forward to the highly regarded French one-day race. Last week she finished sixth in the Dutch Championships, after being part of the leading group for a large part of the race.

“I didn’t know what to expect there, because I had only just returned from altitude training in Livigno. In the race on and around the VAM-berg it soon became clear that my form is fine. Of course I would have liked to have been on the podium, but I also think it’s important that I have a good feeling about it. I’ll take that with me to La Course and the Giro Rosa”, she says.

“La Course is based on the success of the Tour and is therefore always a special race. That’s why you automatically look forward to it. The course this year should suit me with four times the three kilometre-long climb and finish on the same slope. It is very selective. I expect an aggressive race, all teams will be keen to succeed. We can also count on a strong squad. I had a good training week and hope to be a bit stronger after the successful Dutch championship.”
