The first clues about the route for next year’s Tour de France Femmes have come to light ahead of the official announcement in 2 weeks time. The first stage is due to start in Clermont-Ferrand according to the regional newspaper La Montagne. They state that race director Marion Rousse has also paid the area a number of visits in recent months. It marks a departure from last year’s starting city of Paris, where the race began on the Champs Elysees linked to the final day of the men’s race.

The Tour de France Femmes is scheduled for 23rd to 30th July 2023, with the 2nd edition of the rebooted event primed to be as much of a success as the first. The second stage is speculated to take place between Saint-Genès-Champanelle and Mauriac in the Auvergne. We have to wait until October 27th to receive a full confirmation and details about the 2023 Tour de France Femmes route.

“Gender equality is an important part of our sports policy. We are delighted that the Women’s Tour is back on the schedule and that our city has been named to host the event.”

Olivier Bianchi, mayor of Clermont-Ferrand
