The 2025 Women’s Giro d’Italia has the potential to be the best version of the race in recent year, possibly ever. Since RCS took over the race, there has been a bit more stability, even if the race route announcement was delayed thanks to the logistical issues with the men’s race. We’re still largely ahead of schedule compared to previous efforts in running one of the grand tours in women’s cycling. Whilst the 8 stages promised are a reduction on the 10 we used to get, hopefully it’s providing a baseline for the race to grow in the future as the longest running major stage race on the women’s calendar.

Official Route of the Women’s 2025 Giro d’Italia
Below is the breakdown of the 2025 Giro dโItaliaโs route, which spans 8 stages from 6th-13th July 2025:
Stage 1 – Bergamo-Bergamo (Time Trial)
Date: Sunday, 6 July 2025
13.6km
We kick things off in the 2025 Giro d’Italia Women with a mostly flat time trial in Bergamo. Some early time gaps will be established and it always represents a chance for someone to lose the GC on the first day, especially the purer climbers types.
Stage 2 – Clusone-Aprica
Date: Monday, 7 July 2025
99km
If the TT wasn’t enough, the legs will be tested on the 2nd stage of the 2025 Giro d’Italia Women. A long drag uphill to the line, it’s a chance for some riders to make time back after a poor time trial the previous day. Too much will be on the line on GC for a break in theory.
Stage 3 – Vezza d’Oglio-Trento
Date: Tuesday, 8 July 2025
124km
This is a classic OTL tester of a stage. If the opening climb is raced hard, especially if someone wants QoM points, then sprinters and domestiques will be in trouble very early on in the day. They have a long long downhill and the flat to try and re-establish contact, but if anyone has a seriously bad day they may find themselves not coming back the following stage.
Stage 4 – Castello Tesino-Pianezze
Date: Wednesday, 9 July 2025
156km
There’s no respite on Stage 4 either! The final 12km is uphill and will be another GC test in this brutal opening to the Giro d’Italia Women in 2025’s race. A rolling stage should be a case of keeping leaders out of trouble and then letting them battle it out at the end of the day.
Stage 5 – Mirano-Montselice
Date: Thursday, 10 July 2025
108km
Finally, a relatively easy day! It should be an opportunity for the sprinters finally but if there’s some wind or big names have an off day with so much fatigue in their legs already, we might see an interesting result.
Stage 6 – Bellaria Igea Marina-Terre Roveresche
Date: Friday, 11 July 2025
144km
Stage 6 has breakaway win written all over it. A classic lumpy Giro stage which falls nicely in the gap where the GC is well underway and there are tougher tests to come. A few years ago, this would’ve been one that the likes of Lizzy Banks would’ve been circling to target a few months out.
Stage 7 – Fermignano-Monte Nerone
Date: Saturday, 12 July 2025
157km
Here we go, the queen climb of the 2025 Giro d’Italia Women! The Monte Nerone gets the fun task of potentially deciding the GC or bringing someone back into contention. It’s not exactly an easy day up until then either, a real race decider of a stage.
Stage 8 – Forli-Imola
Date: Sunday, 13 July 2025
138km
The final stage looks relatively calm in comparison, but it’s a homage to the world championships course that we saw in Imola a few years ago. A GC favourite could lose this on the final day if they’re not careful and haven’t managed their fatigue levels. It will be tough to create splits but the opportunity will be there on the parcours.
