The 13th edition of the Trofeo Oro in Euro is set to take place on Sunday, 9th March 2025, bringing international womenโs cycling back to Montignoso, Italy. This early-season classic has grown in stature, and organisers are preparing for another standout event, with 27 teams from 13 nations anticipated to line up for the start.
The provisional start list includes seven WorldTour teams: UAE Team ADQ, Canyon SRAM zondacrypto, Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling, Fenix-Deceuninck, Human Powered Health, Uno-X Mobility, and Roland. They will be joined by four ProTeams, nine Continental teams, six club teams, and the United States national team. Italy is set to be the best-represented nation, with eight teams on the list.
The route remains unchanged, with riders tackling a traditional course starting and finishing in Montignoso, offering a familiar challenge to competitors and a picturesque backdrop for fans. The final two hours of the race will be live-streamed via the organisersโ YouTube channel, providing cycling enthusiasts the chance to watch the action unfold.
Potential stars on the start line
Defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini is expected to return, aiming for a third victory on the roads of Versilia. Longo Borghini has made her mark on this race in the past and has already confirmed her attendance so will undoubtedly be a key contender once more. She won last year’s race by 32 seconds with a late solo breakaway.
Other riders potentially taking to the start according to the organisers include Canyon SRAMโs Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, a bronze medallist at the 2023 World Championships, and Neve Bradbury, winner of the white jersey at the Giro Women 2024. Fenix-Deceuninckโs line-up could feature Pauliena Rooijakkers, who finished fourth in last yearโs Giro, alongside strong cyclocross competitors Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and Sara Casasola.
Meanwhile, Human Powered Health may once again field Ruth Edwards, last yearโs third-place finisher, with an all-Italian support squad. Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling is likely to include Daniek Hengeveld, fresh off her Tour Down Under stage win, while Australian road race champion Lucinda Stewart is another possible contender, representing Liv Jayco AlUla.
Promising Italian riders
Italian cycling will also have a strong presence, with names such as Elena Pirrone, Vittoria Ruffilli, and Giorgia Vettorello expected to represent Roland. Laboural Kutxaโs squad may include riders like Alice Maria Arzuffi and Arianna Fidanza, while Team Cofidis could feature Julie Bego and Nadia Quagliotto.
While finalised team rosters will become clearer closer to the race date, the anticipated line-up promises an exciting mix of established stars and emerging talents, all set to tackle the challenging Montignoso course.
