Karol-Ann Canuel (Retired)

Karol-Ann Canuel is a retired Canadian cyclist who developed into one of her country’s strongest road racers and time-trial specialists. A three-time world champion in the trade-team team time-trial, she spent more than a decade racing professionally in Europe and represented Canada at two Olympic Games. Canuel was also a Canadian champion on both the road and against the clock, with her strongest stage-racing result coming at the Giro d’Italia Women.

Career overview

Canuel raced professionally from 2010 until 2021, establishing herself as an accomplished time-trialist, climber and domestique. She won three consecutive team time-trial world titles with Specialized-lululemon, Velocio-SRAM and Boels Dolmans between 2014 and 2016. Individually, Canuel became Canadian time-trial champion in 2015 and national road race champion in 2019, while finishing eighth overall at the 2017 Giro d’Italia Women. She represented Canada at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and finished sixth in the road race at the 2018 World Championships.
