Lidl-Trek has secured the long-term future of Jonathan Milan, announcing that the Tour de France Green Jersey winner has signed a contract extension that keeps him with the team until the end of 2029. The Italian sprinter, still only 24, has rapidly become one of the most dominant fast men in the peloton since joining the team two years ago.

Milanโ€™s impact was immediate in 2024. He racked up 11 wins, including three stages of the Giro dโ€™Italia, while taking home the ciclamino points jersey for the second year running. In 2025 he has already added eight more victories, capped by his Tour de France debut where he won two stages and clinched the Green Jersey on the Champs-ร‰lysรฉes โ€“ the defining target for every sprinter.

His success has been built on a carefully drilled sprint train, with Edward Theuns and Simone Consonni both signed through 2027 to continue as Milanโ€™s trusted leadout riders. That foundation, combined with his track pedigree as an Olympic and World Champion, gives Milan a formidable platform to keep building his palmarรจs.

Milan underlined his attachment to the team when reflecting on the new deal. โ€œThe atmosphere at Lidl-Trek is truly special, the people here have quickly become like a second family to me, and that makes a huge difference when youโ€™re giving everything on the bike. We have already shared some incredible moments and I am really proud of what we have achieved together so far: multiple Grand Tour stage victories, leaderโ€™s jerseys, and always fighting together as one Team. Lidl-Trek really has become my home, so it felt like a natural decision to extend my contract until the end of 2029.โ€

He added that the faith placed in him has only sharpened his ambition: โ€œThe commitment Lidl-Trek has shown to me and the support and confidence they give me as I continue to develop as a rider keeps me motivated for whatโ€™s still to come. I feel really lucky that I get to race together with this group of riders and I am constantly amazed by the work of my teammates and thankful for what they do to help me try to cross the line first. I truly believe that we can keep raising the bar and chase even bigger goals together.โ€

Team General Manager Luca Guercilena highlighted just how far Milan has already come. โ€œBefore we signed Jonny in 2024, we already knew he was a huge talent for the future, but in the two years since he has surpassed even our high expectations. Jonny has integrated seamlessly with the team, and together with his leadout train he has created one of the most effective sprint set-ups in the peloton. What he has achieved in just two seasons is remarkable, and with four more years to come we are excited to see just how high he can climb. His raw power and finishing speed are extraordinary, but equally impressive is his humility and the way he values his teammates.โ€
