Full start list for Il Lombardia 2026: Evenepoel, McNulty, Pidcock and Roglič headline

The 2026 Il Lombardia entry list brings together 25 teams and 175 riders for the final Monument of the season, with the 120th edition running from Bergamo to Como on Saturday 10 October.

The biggest change from recent editions is the absence of five-time defending winner Tadej Pogačar, whose 2026 season ended after his Vuelta a España crash. That leaves a much more open race, even if UAE Team Emirates-XRG still arrive with world champion Brandon McNulty, Isaac del Toro, Jan Christen, Pavel Sivakov and A Yates in an exceptionally strong seven-rider group.

Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe are just as imposing. Fresh from winning the European road title, Remco Evenepoel lines up alongside Primož Roglič, Jai Hindley, Florian Lipowitz and Giulio Pellizzari. Lidl-Trek counter with Giulio Ciccone, Juan Ayuso and Quinn Simmons, while Bahrain Victorious have Lenny Martinez, Pello Bilbao, Santiago Buitrago and Antonio Tiberi.

The Il Lombardia 2026 route covers 239km and around 4,600 metres of climbing. The Ghisallo comes before the decisive Como circuit, where Civiglio and two ascents of San Fermo della Battaglia give the strongest climbers and one-day specialists several places to force the selection. Our Il Lombardia TV guide has the UK viewing details, while the history of Il Lombardia looks back at the race’s long line of winners.

Il Lombardia 2026 route profile from Bergamo to Como

Who stands out on the Il Lombardia 2026 start list?

Remco Evenepoel is the obvious reference point after his European Championships victory and with Pogačar missing. His Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe support is unusually deep for a one-day race, giving the team the option to attack with Roglič, Hindley, Lipowitz or Pellizzari before committing everything to Evenepoel.

Brandon McNulty arrives in the rainbow jersey after winning the World Championships in Montréal. UAE can also use Del Toro and Christen aggressively, while A Yates and Sivakov give them riders capable of surviving deep into the final sequence of climbs.

Tom Pidcock leads Pinarello-Q36.5 and should welcome a finale where positioning, descending and repeated short climbs matter as much as a single long mountain effort. Lidl-Trek have perhaps the strongest set of alternatives through Ciccone, Ayuso and Simmons, while Richard Carapaz and Ben Healy give EF Education-EasyPost two very different ways to attack the race.

There is also a strong group of younger riders who could shape the race before the favourites make their decisive moves. Paul Seixas, Léo Bisiaux, Jarno Widar, Giulio Pellizzari, Davide Piganzoli, Mathys Rondel, Jakob Omrzel and Isaac del Toro all feature on the organiser’s entry list.

British riders at Il Lombardia 2026

Seven British riders are listed. UAE include A Yates, EF Education-EasyPost bring Lukas Nerurkar, Netcompany INEOS have Oscar Onley, Pinarello-Q36.5 select Tom Pidcock and Mark Donovan, Team Visma | Lease a Bike include Ben Tulett, and Team Picnic PostNL bring Oliver Peace.

Pidcock and Onley have the clearest protected-leader cases, although Tulett and Nerurkar are both capable of surviving a hard race if their teams use them aggressively rather than purely as support.

Late change already required at Cofidis

The organiser entry list still names Ion Izagirre as Cofidis rider number 41. Since that list was issued, however, Izagirre has suffered a broken wrist in training and will not start what had been planned as the final race of his professional career. Cofidis had not supplied a replacement on the entry sheet used for this page, so that place remains subject to a late update.
