Alé BTC Ljubljana with four athletes at the Tokyo Olympics: Bastianelli, Bujak, Garcia and Reusser

The only Italian team in the UCI Women’s WorldTour, Alé BTC Ljubljana, will be amply represented by its athletes at the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Four athletes have been called up by their National teams and will pursue the coveted five-circle dream by participating in the most prestigious sporting competition in the world.

The Italian Marta Bastianelli, Slovenian Eugenia Bujak, Spainish Mavi Garcia and Swiss Marlen Reusser will compete in Tokyo.

The Italian Bastianelli is back from a Giro d’Italia Donne that ended in a crescendo, with several placings, and will live in Tokyo her first Olympic experience. The Spanish Mavi Garcia, after confirming both the Spanish road and time trial titles this year, also experienced a Giro d’Italia Donne as a protagonist, finishing in fifth place in the final classification. Slovenian Eugenia Bujak and Swiss Marlen Reusser both won their respective national titles (road and time trial) in recent weeks.

All four athletes will take part in the Women’s Road Race of the Olympics on Sunday 25th July, starting from Musashinonomori Park in Chofu, west of Tokyo, and finishing at Fuji Speedway, a race track in Shizuoka prefecture. There are 137 kilometres to cover and 2,692 metres of altitude difference. Start at 6 a.m. and finish around 10:35 a.m. Italian time.

Marlen Reusser and Mavi Garcia will also take part in the Women’s Individual Time Trial on Wednesday, July 28th, also at the Fuji Speedway, on an undulating circuit of 22.1 kilometres with an elevation gain of 423 metres. The race will start at 4:30 a.m. and finish at around 6:30 a.m. Italian time.

Both competitions will be visible live on TV on Rai Sport and Eurosport and in streaming.
