CCC-Liv will start on Sunday in Gent-Wevelgem. The selection for this UCI Women’s WorldTour race consists of: Valerie Demey, Evy Kuijpers, Pauliena Rooijakkers, Riejanne Markus and Jeanne Korevaar.
“We noticed during the recon that there are some changes in the course which is now more typical Flemish with less wide and more narrow roads. Last year, riders coming from the back were often able to reconnect. That will not be the case this year, or at least less, I expect. There is more room to actually race”, says sports director Jeroen Blijlevens.
“We have also looked at the weather and wind forecast and will continue to monitor them. Wind always plays a role here. It may just be that echelons will be created in the final. As a team, we will always have to be in the front and be alert to any activity in the peloton.”
Everyone tests negative The riders and staff members on the programme for Gent-Wevelgem have all tested negative in the run-up to the race. None of them have COVID-19 related complaints.
