The Cofidis Women’s Team is set to bolster its lineup with six new riders, expanding the squad to fifteen athletes for the upcoming season. The additions include Dutch cyclist Kirstie van Haaften, German Hannah Ludwig, Czech Nikola Noskova, and Australian Sarah Roy. The team also confirms full deals for two of its stagiaires, Julie Bego and Lise Ménage.
Julie Bego, a World Junior Road Champion, expressed her excitement about the new season. After spending time as a stagiaire last season, she’s eager to transition from Junior to Elite races. She shared her anticipation for exploring her climbing and puncher abilities in support of the Cofidis collective.
Hannah Ludwig highlighted Cofidis’ growth over the past two years. She’s drawn to challenging, mountainous races and time trials and is keen on aiding the development of younger riders. Ludwig finds competing in the Tour de France with a French team especially appealing.
Sarah Roy, with her wealth of experience including seven victories, is thrilled to join Cofidis. She appreciates the team’s collective spirit and is looking forward to contributing to its growth, particularly enjoying classics and helping sprinters excel.
Nikola Noskova sees joining Cofidis as an opportunity. A stage race enthusiast, she aims to help the team secure victories and give her best in difficult, mountainous stages.
Lise Ménage, primarily a puncher-sprinter, is honoured to be part of Cofidis. She’s impressed by the team’s unity and is excited to contribute to its success.
Kirstie van Haaften admires Cofidis’ team spirit and looks forward to competing in stage races, where she can perform well in general classifications or mountain stages. A former European Track Champion (U23), she’s eager to experience grand tours, including the Tour de France.
Team Director Mélanie Briot emphasised the importance of expanding the roster to handle a demanding season and facilitate a two-pronged approach to racing. The aim is to align with a UCI World Tour team structure.
General Manager Cédric Vasseur noted the team’s continued growth, with a focus on strengthening across all areas. He praised the rapid learning ability of new recruit Julie Bego and is confident that Ludwig and Noskova will shine in hilly terrains. Roy’s high-level experience is expected to be invaluable, while van Haaften and Ménage will bring fresh energy to the team. Vasseur is optimistic about the team’s ability to quickly compete with top global teams.
The complete roster for the 2024 season includes a mix of young and experienced riders, all set to make their mark in various race formats and terrains.
