The first campaign in the North of Valcar – Travel & Service, today the protagonist on the streets of Le Samyn des Dames, ends with Chiara Consonni’s second place.
The 22-year-old from Brembate Sopra crossed the line behind Emma Norsgaard at the end of a race interpreted best by the athletes directed by Davide Arzeni.
After 15 sectors of cobblestones in 85 km, there were about twenty girls who fought for the victory. In the leading group, in addition to Chiara Consonni, also Ilaria Sanguineti, Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini, whose work proved decisive in repelling the attack of the leading tandem composed by Shirin Van Anrooij and Vittoria Guazzini, taken 6 km from the finish line.
Battistrada resumed 300 meters from the finish line and a winning lunge by the Norwegian Norsgaard, with Chiara Consonni second for a handful of meters.
“I’m happy with this second place – said Chiara Consonni from Bergamo to Eurosport -. Already at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad I was feeling good but I couldn’t hit the result, so today I wanted to hit a good finish for me and the team. The sprint was very difficult: Emma started 300 meters from the finish; at minus 50 I thought I could jump her, but she was good at resisting until the finish line ”.
