Megan Monk

Megan Armitage, now racing as Megan Monk, is an Irish cyclist who races for Tenvels Le Dévoluy. A strong climber and stage racer, she progressed rapidly from amateur racing to the professional peloton after taking up cycling seriously during 2020. Armitage became the first Irish woman to win a UCI-ranked stage race with overall victory at the 2023 Vuelta Extremadura Féminas and represented Ireland in the road race at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Career overview

Armitage came to cycling after previously competing as a runner and quickly progressed through the Belgian racing scene. She finished second in the Irish road championship in 2021 before joining IBCT and then Arkéa Pro Cycling Team. Her breakthrough came in 2023 when she won a stage and the overall classification at the Vuelta Extremadura Féminas, becoming the first Irish woman to win a UCI stage race. Armitage joined EF for 2024 and finished 35th in the Olympic road race in Paris. She stepped away from professional cycling in early 2025 and moved towards long-course triathlon, but returned to road racing in July 2026 under her married name Megan Monk, joining French team Tenvels Le Dévoluy.
