The Vuelta Extremadura Féminas returns for its third edition in 2025, now upgraded to UCI 2.1 status. The higher ranking has attracted a stronger startlist, with UAE Team ADQ, Uno-X Mobility, and Visma | Lease a Bike joining Movistar and Lidl-Trek for the first time.

ToggleThis year’s race features four stages across three days, an increase from the three stages held in both 2023 and 2024. The key change is the addition of a second stage on the opening day, with a 9km time trial in the morning followed by a 90km road stage later in the day.
Last year, Mareille Meijering took the overall victory, thanks to a decisive solo breakaway on Stage 2 that gave her a strong enough time gap to resist rivals in the final individual time trial. She finished 35 seconds ahead of Gaia Realini and 44 seconds ahead of Brodie Chapman, while Ellen van Dijk claimed victory in the time trial – her first win since returning from maternity leave.
The race was launched in 2023 at 2.2 level, with Arkéa dominating from start to finish. The team won the opening 6.4km team time trial, edging out Stade Rochelais by four seconds, before sealing a podium lockout on the final climb to Piornal. Megan Armitage, Clara Emond, and Maaike Colje finished 1-2-3, with Massi Tactic’s Cecile Lejeune the nearest challenger.
Women’s WorldTour teams made their first appearance in 2024, with Movistar and Lidl-Trek attending. That number has grown in 2025, with five top-tier teams on the startlist, making this year’s race far more competitive.
