With several National Championship titles, as well as the European Championships being contested in recent days, the Équipe Paule Ka riders went into this recent campaign with a wide variety of goals. The majority of our European riders were selected to represent their countries in either the time trial or road race disciplines in Plouay, France, and the outcome was once again a successful one. In total, Équipe Paule Ka riders took two wins, five podiums, and three top tens.
At the National Championships, victories include the impressive Danish road race title of Emma Norsgaard Jorgensen, as well as the Czech time trial title of Nikola Noskova. Nikola then backed up this strong performance in the race against the clock with fourth position in the road race.
Meanwhile, at the European Championships, Emma took bronze in the U23 road race, while current Swiss time trial champion, Marlen Reusser, was another rider to finish on the podium, having finished third in the Elite time trial.
This comes in addition to the silver medal that was collected by Marlen, as well as Elise Chabbey and Kathrin Stirnemann, in the mixed relay time trial, a performance that saw the Swiss squad put significant time into the next placed teams.
Following this successful campaign, the team now has five national jerseys in its ranks, with Niamh Fisher-Black (New Zealand road race), Nikola Noskova (Czech ITT), Emma Norsgaard Jorgensen (Danish road race) and Marlen Reusser (Swiss road race and Swiss ITT)
The team currently sits in fourth place overall in the UCI rankings, a very impressive accomplishment that is a testament to the dedication of the riders to continuous improvement on the road. Mikayla Harvey sits in second place overall in the UCI’s Youth Ranking, with Lizzy Banks and Leah Thomas both making the top 10 of the UCI’s WorldTour ranking.
