Giro Donne and Tour de France, a great double challenge for Movistar Team

Two ‘Grand Tours’ to open the month of July

Italy, with Annemiek van Vleuten as a reference, and France, with Enric Mas as leader, are big goals for the Movistar Team starting this weekend.

The Movistar Team sets course this week towards two of the great objectives of its 2022 season: the Giro d’Italia Donne, which begins next Thursday, June 30, in the Sardinian city of Cagliari, and the men’s Tour de France, which will start on Friday, July 1 from Danish lands with a time trial in Copenhagen.

In the Italian round, which will last for ten stages -with a rest day- until Sunday the 10th, Jorge Sanz will lead a six led by its great leader, Annemiek van Vleuten , which begins its challenge of the three ‘Grand Tours’ of the campaign here. Joining her will be a stage winner in 2021, Emma Norsgaard; the Pan American road champion, Arlenis Sierra; and three high performance cyclists such as Aude Biannic, Paula Patiño and Jelena Erić.

For their part, in the 40th consecutive appearance of the telephone team in the ‘Grande Boucle’, Patxi Vila and Chente García Acosta will be the sporting directors of a team led by Enric Mas, 5th (2020) and 6th (2021) in his last two appearances in the French race. With him will be the recent stage winner in Dauphiné, Carlos Verona; the promising Matteo Jorgenson; and expert runners such as Imanol Erviti, Nelson Oliveira, Gorka Izagirre, Gregor Mühlberger and Albert Torres.
