Mavi Garcia to join Liv Racing Xstra from 2023

Mavi Garcia

Mavi Garcia has announced that she will be joining Liv Racing Xstra, a high-profile signing that rivals that of Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio’s move to AG-NXTG. The transfer will give Liv Racing Xstra a genuine GC contender that they haven’t had this season. Garcia will leave UAE Team ADQ after 3 seasons on the team. She cites her talks with the Liv Racing Xstra team as being encouraging and allowing her to achieve the best possible results. With the expected arrival of Silvia Persico to UAE Team ADQ, competition for the biggest races was going to be incoming.

“I need peace, understanding and professionalism. Those conversations [with Liv Racing Xstra manager Eric van den Boom and DS Giorgia Bronzini] gave me confidence. I am convinced that together we can create something very beautiful and that there is room to grow. I have been competing at the highest level for many years now.

All the decisions I have made in my career have been deliberate and have always resulted in positive change. That will be no different with this step.”

Mavi Garcia

The current Spanish road and TT champion, Garcia has signed with the Dutch team for the next 2 years. She finished on the podium at the Giro Donne, in 3rd place and 10th at the Tour de France Femmes this season. Garcia took her first Women’s WorldTour victory as well this year, at the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas.

“We wanted to strengthen ourselves with a strong rider who is able to achieve success in both stage races and the difficult one-day races. Mavi García fits seamlessly into that profile. She also brings the necessary experience that our talented youngsters can use very well,”

Eric van den Boom, Liv Racing Xstra manager

The current 2023 roster for Liv Racing Xstra is: Thalita de Jong, Alison Jackson, Jeanne Korevaar, Sabrina Stultiens, Rachele Barbieri, Valerie Demey and Eva Buurman.
