THE DANISH MOVISTAR TEAM CHAMPION SUFFERED MORE THAN EVER AT THE KEMMELBERG AND HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING INTO THE FINAL SPRINT; IN SPITE OF EVERYTHING, SHE REINFORCES HER U23 LEADERSHIP IN THE WORLDTOUR.

The 2021 Gent-Wevelgem, fourth round of the UCI Women’s WorldTour, was small torture for Emma Norsgaard (Movistar Team) who once again demonstrated her enormous commitment, arriving with the best after her suffering at Kemmelberg. 9th place for the Danish rider, who continues to be the leader of the WWT girls, in the triumph of Marianne Vos (TJV).

Until the decisive phase, Norsgaard had good support from her Movistar Team, with González, Guarischi, Erić, Biannic and Rodríguez focused on taking her in good positions and out of danger after the Plugstreets and before the Kemmelberg. However, on the hard cobbled ramps the Nordic one showed greater difficulty than on other days, despite that she was able to return to the race when around 35 riders were re-grouped for the finish line.

After being hit by Paladin (LIV) and Longo Borghini (TFS) in the last kilometre of a thrilling chase, a sprint was launched in which forces prevented Norsgaard from finding a better position to launch her power.
