Visma | Lease a Bike continues yellow and black legacy in 2024, announces GT plans and contract extensions

Visma | Lease a Bike has unveiled its team and new jersey for the 2024 season in Amsterdam, maintaining the familiar yellow and black colours that have become synonymous with the team. The Dutch outfit, evolving from its LottoNL-Jumbo and Jumbo-Visma days, continues to reinforce its identity with this colour scheme.

The primary sponsors, Visma and Lease a Bike, prominently feature on the predominantly yellow jersey. The design incorporates black lines forming a honeycomb pattern, a design element carried over from the Jumbo-Visma era. Additional sponsors such as Betcity, Cervélo, and SRAM are also visibly incorporated into the jersey.

A small Yellow B logo, shaped like a bee, is also present, symbolising the team’s established identity under the guidance of director Richard Plugge and sporting director Merijn Zeeman. Given the predominantly yellow colour, the team is expected to wear a different jersey during the Tour de France 2024, to avoid confusion with the Tour’s yellow leader’s jersey.

Richard Plugge, CEO of the team, expressed his pride in the new jersey, emphasising that it’s more than just a kit but a reflection of the team’s new corporate identity. He highlighted the brighter shade of yellow and the incorporation of main sponsors Visma and Lease a Bike in the logo and team name. Plugge also shared the team’s vision of building a legacy, aiming to go beyond victories and make a historical impact through their unique approach to racing and working.

In addition to the jersey announcement, the team is excited about the continuation of cyclocross world champion Fem van Empel, who has extended her contract until the end of 2027. Van Empel, a key figure in the women’s team, has shown remarkable performance both on the road and in cyclocross. The men’s team also sees contract extensions for prominent riders like Jonas Vingegaard and Sepp Kuss.

Olav Kooij is set to make his grand tour debut at the Giro d’Italia 2024, alongside teammates Wout van Aert and Cian Uijtdebroeks. Van Aert, focusing on the Giro d’Italia, will adjust his schedule, skipping the Italian classics but participating in the Amstel Gold Race.

Visma | Lease a Bike has outlined its provisional selections for the Tour, Giro, and Vuelta in 2024, showcasing a strong lineup across the major grand tours. The team looks forward to another successful year, building on their impressive track record and continuing to innovate in the world of professional cycling.
