Marianne Vos and Riejanne Markus of Team Visma | Lease a Bike will debut a special jersey as the Tour de France Femmes kicks off in Rotterdam on the 12th of August. The teamโs new kit, unveiled ahead of the race, pays tribute to Dutch female athletes across all levels of sport. The design, part of a campaign titled โThe Power of โrange,โ reflects the start in the Netherlands and the finish at the Alpe dโHuez, also known as the Dutch mountain.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike CEO Richard Plugge spoke about the motivation behind the jersey, saying, “Women hold an important place in Dutch sports history, especially in cycling. With the arrival of the world’s biggest cycling race in the Netherlands, it was logical for us to seize this opportunity to honour Dutch sportswomen and inspire everyone to bring out the best in themselves and dare to dream big.”
The campaign aims to showcase the unity and strength of Dutch sportswomen, symbolised through the jerseyโs vibrant colours and dynamic shapes. The initiative not only celebrates Olympic champions but also acknowledges dedicated amateurs and recreational athletes.
As the race begins in Rotterdam and heads towards The Hague, the teamโs decision to honour Dutch female athletes comes at a significant moment. With the Tour de France Femmes starting in the Netherlands for the first time, the jersey will serve as a powerful reminder of the nationโs rich sporting heritage.
Vos and Markus will be amongst the first to wear the new jersey, with the team proudly donning it during the opening stage. For more details on the campaign and the jersey itself, fans can visit the dedicated website.
