A quick preview look at Women’s Surf Coast Classic 2025

The Women’s Surf Coast Classic is a new race for 2025 to help cover the gap between the end of the Tour Down Under and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. Before, there was just a block with no racing and despite attempts to fill it with a criterium in the last couple of seasons, it has now grown to include a serious one-day race from Lorne to Torquay on the coast of the Indian Ocean.

An early long climb will help fire up the legs but from there, it’s just fairly rolling and should be a sprint finish. It’s a chance for riders looking to perform at Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race to get some more miles in their legs at race pace and maybe just test out the punch that they’ll need to be successful there. For some sprinters, it’ll be a nice goodbye present after a few weeks in Australia before some will head to the UAE Tour Women for more sprints and others back to European races. Maybe it’s a chance for a breakaway win if everyone is busy looking ahead to the Women’s WorldTour race later in the week but that situation will require just the right kind of circumstances.
