Career overview
Mackaij moved from speed skating into cycling and quickly became one of the Netherlands’ most consistent all-rounders. Her breakthrough came with victory at Gent-Wevelgem in 2015, followed by further wins at Omloop van de IJsseldelta, Omloop van Borsele, Omloop der Kempen, the GP de Plouay team time-trial and Vuelta CV Féminas. After spending a decade within the Liv-Plantur, Sunweb and DSM structure, she joined Movistar Team in 2023 and became a key Classics and stage-race support rider. Mackaij has also produced strong individual results, including 3rd at Drentse Acht van Westerveld, 5th at Trofeo Alfredo Binda, 5th overall at the Ladies Tour of Norway and regular top-20 finishes in major Women’s WorldTour races.
