A historical second place has arrived on Thursday for the Spanish climber at the restart of the Season 2020, just behind the World Champion Annemiek Van Vleuten and before the Olympic Gold Medal in Rio 2016 Anna Van der Breggen. It was a brutal race from Pamplona to Lekunberri, with 4 climbs through the 118km of the race, which has been completed only by 35 riders, including the #YellowFluoOrange girls Eugenia Bujak and Marta Bastianelli. Mavi Garcia finished with a small gap of 18’’ from the race winner, trying a solo breakaway for 25km and demonstrating an important condition: it’s a result that she can hardly forget.
Her quotes after the race: “I worked so much in the last months but I would never expect to be on the podium with the last World and Olympic Champions. I was close to the victory but it doesn’t matter, it will arrive.” The Clasica Navarra Femenina, with start and finish in Pamplona, is planned on Friday.
