Preparations are in full swing for the 13th edition of the Trofeo Oro in Euro, which will take place on Sunday, 9th March 2025, in Montignoso, Versilia. This Italian race, now part of the UCI 1.1 calendar, has become an increasingly more important part of early season Italian calendar. The event will once again be organised in partnership between A.S.D Montignoso and Oro in Euro Gioielli.
This year’s race will feature a stacked line-up, including seven World Tour teams, confirming the event’s high profile. Teams such as Canyon Sram zondacrypto, UAE Team ADQ, Fenix-Deceuninck, Human Powered Health, Uno-X Mobility, Roland, and Liv Jayco Alula will be among the elite squads on the start list. They’ll be joined by four ProTeams, including Cofidis, Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, VolkerWessels, and Winspace Orange Seal. A further 13 continental teams and the U.S. national squad complete the field, representing 12 nations.
The race route will stick to its traditional format, featuring the challenging double ascent of the Fortezza climb, which has often been decisive in determining the winner. Fans can follow the action live via streaming from 3 p.m. on race day.
Italian champion Elisa Longo Borghini, who claimed victory in 2024, has confirmed she will return to defend her title. The Trek-Segafredo rider has her eyes set on becoming the first cyclist to secure three wins at the event, following her earlier triumph in 2012 during the race’s inaugural year with Oro in Euro.
The Trofeo Oro in Euro boasts an impressive roll of honour. Only two riders have managed to win the event twice: Longo Borghini and Sofia Bertizzolo, who claimed victory in 2016 and 2022. Other notable winners include former world champion Marta Bastianelli, Arianna Fidanza, Rachele Barbieri, Gaia Realini, and Cuba’s Arlenis Sierra.
The timing of the race, just days after Strade Bianche, has attracted several top-tier riders looking to maintain form and fitness. With such a strong line-up of teams and riders, organisers anticipate another memorable edition of the race.
