Team Rolandโs place in the Womenโs WorldTour is far from secure as the team faces a significant gap of around 600 UCI points to reach the final qualifying spot. With the UCI licence renewal process underway, competition is heating up, as teams like Laboral Kutxa and Cofidis are also pushing hard to break into the top tier.
The Swiss squad must navigate the UCIโs rigorous requirements across administrative, financial, ethical, and organisational criteria, as well as the sporting factor, which evaluates performance based on accumulated points over the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The teamโs ability to close the gap and secure crucial results will be pivotal to its future in the WorldTour.
Rising costs and salaries in womenโs cycling are adding further pressure on teams, and Team Roland has been no exception. Despite these challenges, the team has confirmed a roster of 10 riders for the upcoming season, blending established talent with fresh recruits. There’s the possibility for more to join soon as well.
Antri Christoforou, Tamara Dronova, Elena Pirrone, and Giorgia Vettorello remain from last yearโs squad, while Petra Stiasny returns after a stint with Fenix-Deceuninck, and Irish rider Mia Griffin re-joins after focusing on the track for her Olympic campaign in Paris.
The team has also signed French rider Morgane Coston from Cofidis and Polish rider Kaja Rysz following the closure of Lifeplus Wahoo. Promising young Italians Giulia Giuliani and Vittoria Ruffilli, both born in 2002, join from the ASD K2 Women Team.
The fight for points will be critical, and with teams like Laboral Kutxa and Cofidis pushing for the same goal, Roland has its work cut out to secure its place in the Womenโs WorldTour.
