Lotte Kopecky secured her second consecutive victory at the 2024 Tour of Britain Women, outpacing Anna Henderson in a hard-fought sprint finish after a demanding 140.2km stage featuring 1,570m of climbing. The race began calmly in Wrexham, but Franziska Kochโs daring solo attack 30km in saw her gain over three minutes before being reeled in by the peloton at the second Queen of the Mountains (QOM) climb, Horseshoe Pass. From there, Kopecky launched a decisive attack with 27km remaining, accompanied only by Henderson, as the duo worked to maintain a significant gap over the chasing pack.
In the final kilometre, Henderson made a valiant attempt to outsprint the world champion, but Kopeckyโs power proved decisive. The Belgian crossed the line first, with Henderson settling for second and Lorena Wiebes leading the chasers 20 seconds behind to claim third. Lizzie Deignan, retaining her QOM jersey, reflected on her climbing efforts, while Koch earned the Combativity Award for her solo ride. Kopecky praised her team and tactical approach, while Henderson expressed pride in her performance, marking a strong comeback from injury.
