World Road Championships review

5 WNT-ROTOR Pro Cycling riders were in action in Harrogate, Yorkshire, Great Britain for the World Championships.

In the first event of the championship, Lisa Brennauer lined up for the mixed relay, the first time the event would be a world championship, with Lisa Klein, Meike Kroger, Tony Martin, Nils Pollit and Jasha Sutterlin. The six raced to a silver medal only 23″ behind the gold winning team.

Two days later, Lisa excelled to a 10th place in the individual time trial from Ripon to Harrogate, a performance she was delighted with, and gives her strong confidence ahead of next year’s Olympic Games.

In the road race four days later, Lisa was joined by German compatriots Clara Koppenburg and Kathrin Hammes as well as Ane Santesteban (Spain) and Gabrielle Pilote Fortin (Canada) for the 150km, hilly route from Bradford, finishing once again in Harrogate. After being in the main breakaway of the day over the top of Lofthouse, Clara Koppenburg put in a strong performance, but on the finishing, circuit lost contact with the first chasing group.

In the sprint to the line for 6th place, Lisa finished with a 9th place overall, with Ane taking 26th and after her efforts for the day, Clara took a respectable 48th place, leaving everything on the road in the fight for the rainbows!
