Wollaston powers to victory in 2025 Women’s Clásica de Almería

Ally Wollaston lived up to her billing as the pre-race favourite by sprinting to victory in the 2025 Clásica de Almería. She made it through the decisive climb and had the speed to finish the job on the Spanish coast.

The 133km route featured a crucial climbing section in the second half, with the Alto Aljibe de la Cruz (5.1km at 3.6%) forming part of a longer 20km ascent. Though the climb wasn’t overly steep, it was enough to shake up the race. FDJ-SUEZ dictated the pace, reducing the bunch to around 30 riders by the summit, where Nikola Noskova took the QoM points ahead of Sigrid Ytterhus Haugset, Jade Wiel, and Marte Edserth Berg.

From there, a long descent and a flat final 30km into Roquetas de Mar set the stage for a sprint finish. But not before Stine Dale made a bold late-race move. The Norwegian went clear with just over 30km remaining and built a lead of more than 40 seconds. Despite her efforts, she was reeled in with 6km to go, with Laboral Kutxa lending a hand in the chase.

Wollaston finishes it off

With the race back together, a sprint was inevitable. Wollaston, already a winner this season at the Surf Coast Classic and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, proved the fastest from the reduced bunch. Linda Zanetti pushed her closest but had to settle for second, while Dominika Wlodarczyk, who had been one of the most aggressive riders on the climbs, rounded out the podium in third. Jenny Rissveds took fourth ahead of Tereza Neumanova, while Arianna Fidanza finished sixth. Letizia Borghesi and Silvia Zanardi crossed the line in seventh and eighth, with Catalina Soto Campos and Anouska Koster completing the top ten.
