The race was first held in 2023 and immediately made an impression. That yearโs inaugural winner was Elyne Roussel, then just 17 years old and riding for the Breizh Ladies. She delivered a gutsy solo win into Audierne after placing seventh in the opening time trial. Her performance marked a turning point in her young career and set the tone for what organiser Yves Thomas hoped the race could become. Roussel will return in 2025 as patron of the race, having gone on to ride the Tour de France Femmes as its youngest competitor.

ToggleIn 2024, the race expanded to a two-day national event. Ema Comte of Chambรฉry Cycling won the opening 15km time trial in Mahalon, ahead of Marine Maugรฉ and Clรฉmence Chereau. The following day, the riders tackled a 120km road stage from Pointe du Raz to Audierne, featuring six kilometres of gravel-style paths through the Cap-Sizun landscape. While the rough roads didnโt cause major damage, they added character to a course that already stood out for its remote beauty. Marie-Morgane Le Deunff won that stage for Arkea.
What makes the Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic distinctive is not just its location but its environmental and cultural ethos. Riders are required to carry all waste with them – no bottles or packaging can be discarded. The winner receives not flowers but a wooden medal carved in nearby Combrit and a symbolic sprig of heather. That modernity is now matched by a step up in sporting quality.
The raceโs progression from a one-day regional event in 2023 to a full UCI-classified race in just two years is fairly rapid. With its technical ambition, scenic setting and support from the Finistรจre community, the Pointe du Raz Ladies Classic is quickly earning a place as a standout event on the French calendar. All eyes will now turn to Brittanyโs Atlantic coast as the third edition kicks off – a short but testing route, and a chance for one rider to add their name to a still very short honours list.
