A quick preview look at the Ronde de Mouscron 2024

The Ronde de Mouscron, though only in its infancy with two editions, has already made significant waves in the cycling scene, reminiscent of Scheldeprijs’s early days. Its inaugural race was dominated by Valcar, which led Chiara Consonni to a commanding bunch sprint victory. The following year, Thalita de Jong clinched an unexpected win from a large breakaway for the JEGG-DJR team, hinting at her impending move to Liv Racing Xstra, and leading a sprint-heavy group to the finish.

For its 2023 edition, the race saw route modifications, removing cobbled sections for a longer asphalt path, and extending the lap to 24 kilometres for a total of 120 kilometres. Despite favourable weather predictions, the race day presented challenging conditions with heavy rain, leading to a demanding course that caused significant splits in the peloton and a high number of withdrawals. In the end, only 52 riders finished, with the race concluding in a sprint among a reduced group. Martina Fidanza emerged victorious, with Anniina Ahtosalo and Valentine Fortin trailing, and Arianna Fidanza securing fourth place, showcasing a strong performance by the Fidanza sisters in a race marked by strategic calls and challenging weather.
