The Kreizh Breizh Elites is one of the jewels in the French national calendar. Taking place up in Brittany, it offers some tough one-day racing with plenty of elevation and kick points to try and split up the racing. It first became a UCI race in 2018, where Dani Christmas (now a DS with Canyon SRAM) took the inaugural victory 5 seconds ahead of Maelle Grossetéte and almost 2 minutes ahead of the chasing pack. The following year saw the race develop into a 2-day race which Teniel Campbell won both days of. 2 wins from 2 there gave her a 3 second GC lead ahead of Anna Henderson who was then racing for Brother UK-Tifosi and 6 seconds ahead of Invgvild Gåskjenn of Hitec Products. Both would become very good Women’s WorldTour riders afterwards.

ToggleAfter a year off because of Covid in 2020, it returned again as a 2-day race and once again was dominated by a single rider. This time it was the 2019 runner-up Anna Henderson, now at Jumbo-Visma, winning both days and the GC from Floortje Mackaij and teammate Anouska Koster. In 2022 the one-day race format returned and the route that we get to see again this year was the main stage. Emma Norsgaard took the win in a strong line-up that included Silvia Persico and local rider Marie le Net on the podium that year. Its proximity to the World Championships last year saw a reduced startlist and one that ended up too small to qualify for UCI points. So whilst Giorgia Vettorello won the race last year for BePink, unfortunately, it didn’t count as a UCI win for the young Italian. That issue seems to be rectified for 2024 with a strong startlist with plenty of depth this year.
